French Toast Recipe....step by step.

Print Friendly and PDF

French toast.....easy French toast is a childhood special....a popular classic breakfast....

Today, I am going to share how I make this easy classic breakfast, which kids and adults like...something which the whole family can enjoy on a lazy Sunday morning.

This a very basic recipe where only one egg is added along with milk and sugar, you can make this with any type of bread like brown bread and can even top with maple syrup or berries or just a lavish sprinkle of powdered sugar to make it fancy....I am just serving it plain...

To make this healthier I have omitted butter and used rice bran oil; you can use butter, olive oil, refined oil whichever you prefer, but personally butter intensifies the flavor and the taste.

10 to 12 slices of bread.
Egg: 1, lightly beaten.
Milk: About 1/2 cup.
Sugar: 4 tsp.
Vanilla essence : 1/4 tsp (optional) ( I did not use).\
Cinnamon Powder: A fat pinch (optional) (I did not use)

Take a shallow bowl, this is important so that the bread slices can be dipped in. Pour milk into the pan, add  lightly beaten egg and sugar and whisk till all is mixed. Take a slice of bread and dip into it using a fork. While dipping do not allow the bread to stay in the milk for long.....we want the toast to be firm and not soggy.

Grease an iron skillet pan or drizzle a bit of oil of your choice and place the bread slices on to it.. Put the fire on low flame

Since my pan is a bit large, it can hold 3 slices of bread (so that makes it double easy). I like that streak of morning rays on the bread :) Allow the slices to be on the pan for 3-4 min.

Then flip it over...again let it stand for 3 min on low flame. The toast will be nice and crispy.

Ya that's it your classic easy French toast is ready.
Serve with milk or coffee....or surprise your hubby with this breakfast on bed :)
