Sunday Chats - 3

Hello! and its Sunday!! I hope you all had a wonderful week.

Happy Fathers day to all the wonderful dads out there, I just called mine and yes! that really made his day.

Anybody watching FIFA World Cup?? Well, I am not much of a game watcher.

Here in North Kerala, Monsoons started....though a bit weak at the moment; but the weather is so cool and refreshing. The best thing about Sunday is the laid back attitude everybody at home has, personally, I am at my most laziest self.....sometimes, I wish every day is a Sunday! Dont you too?

I am enjoying this tender coconut, the best thing about living in Kerala is the availability of fresh tender coconut all through the year.

With kids back to school; I am on look out for "after school snacks" though Nidhi loves these garlic rolls, and I did try these onion strings for a change and my kids loved it!

When I saw this oreo ice cream pie; I wanted so very badly to make them, but some of the ingredients are not available here in Calicut and so I just drooled over the pictures....but let me tell you I loved the way Amanda made the oreo crust....I am wondering whether I can find a subs for cream cheese or bring in something else in its place and make this awfully tempting Oreo Pie! Any suggestions are welcome.

And for you salad loving people out there; here is something I found on the internet. This sure will help you innovate your salads, the way it did for me. If you are planning for a salad diet; this will help you stick to it.

These days everybody is trying to be Extraordinary, though I do not believe in that. To be extraordinary involves a lot of competition and comparison, winning and losing....remember "YOU" are a natural process, enjoy the marvels and wonders of  an ordinary life....make sure the ordinary comes alive for you then I am sure the extraordinary will take care of itself.

Have a wonderful and blessed week ahead.

Pidiyum Kozhiyum Recipe - How To Make Kerala Style Kozhi Pidi - Kerala Recipes

Pidiyum kozhiyum or kottayam style pidi is a traditional knanaya cuisine ; these rice dumpling have a thick gravy like sauce, unlike the dry versions of Malabar kakka roti or kozhi pidi. Knanaya style pidi is served with varutharacha kozhi curry. Traditionally, pidi is associated with baby shower ie when the daughter-in-law is sent to her parents house for delivery, it is customary for the mother-in-law to make kozhi pidi and we knanaya people still follow these traditions. My main aim is to preserve this recipe; so that the future generations can enjoy this wholesome dish. Pidi is rice dumplings which is simmered in water along with shallots, garlic, curry leaves, and coriander seeds; but I have used coriander powder instead to make the whole process easy. Amma mentioned that if using coriander seeds then; the water used to mix the rice flour should be sieved and that using fresh roasted coriander powder saves time. I have made a video recipe and I hope this you help
