That's my mom n me.

Hi and welcome to my space. I am Nisa (its pronouced Nisha); Nisa means "night" in Malayalam.

I am a child of God,first and foremost; wife of one hardworking man, mom to two, and a passionate blogger.

I am 38 39,40 born and raised in the capital city of Kerala, Trivandrum. My ancestral hometown is Kottayam. I now live in Calicut (Kozhikode), Kerala.

I am a night owl.......to the core.

I am a Law graduate by qualification but a homemaker by choice.

I have been married to Homey for 16 17 years and we are blessed with 2 children; Nidhi-15 and Cheriyan-10. I manage our household as a stay-at-home-mom. On any given day you can find me shuttling my kids to and from school, dance classes, sports practices, coaching classes etc etc....and ofcourse cooking up recipes.

I love to be with my kids...shopping with them....hanging out at malls....and cherish each and every little precious moments with them.....and never regret leaving my career in Law.

A food blog because.....

I started this space to express my love for food and to share it with others.

Cooking is Easy...

I strongly believe cooking should be easy and fun.

Cooking can be easy and fun if you know the exact details of a recipe and that's the reason why I give detailed pictures (at least for most of my recipes), I want to share the joy of cooking to each and everyone who visit my space, from an experienced one to a beginner. The whole idea is cooking after all is EASY!!. I try to make my recipes as simple as possible....I personally don't have the patience to read through a large recipe.

I always believe in cooking with things which are available locally and to make use of whatever is available in the pantry....I hate to make cakes with expensive imported chocolate...so my cookies and cakes are mostly with Cadbury's cocoa powder. I mostly cook with the spices that is available locally. ...I am wary of expensive chocolate...I think food should be accessible....
What you will see here are mostly everyday food, traditional Kerala food, cakes, cookies, bread; most of them made entirely from scratch. I only share what I prepare at home, and that means, my recipes are not fancy, flashy, or cost you a small fortune to make, but healthy and purely homemade

Most of the traditional recipes I have posted here are handed down by my mom (whom I believe is the greatest cook!!),my mom-in-law, aunts, sis-in-laws, cousins, and some my very own.

The best way to get started here is to visiting the recipe labels i have created on the right side and if you want to search a recipe the tool is on the right side, just type in the recipe name or ingredient.

Why the step by step photos:

Ya, its a lot of work, I'd like you to see how it looks halfway through the preparation, no room for trickery when you are shown the various stages of cooking, to take you through the whole process of cooking in my kitchen. I am a very visual person.

Volume Cooking:
I cook for my family and love volume cooking. Basically that means I use cups and measuring spoons. I do not do grams or weigh always, I find that annoying and way too time consuming and yes when it comes to baking I like to break the rules..I use salted butter for all my baking.......and yes that works for me...

I do all my cooking alone (other than my kids giving me an occasional helping hand), I don't have a cook or maid to assist me. The recipes I have posted here are tried and tested in my kitchen. I am not a qualified baker or have any degree in home science....I am self taught to the core. I grew up in a family obsessed with food. Every family get-together was (and still is) centered around food.

This blog is a one person operation, maintained by a very imperfect, impatient human being......mistakes, typing errors etc etc do happen....when it comes to my notice, it even makes me cringe......I would appreciate if they are pointed out by you.....

I do all the blog related work on my own. I have no computer training or degree....everything comes from trial and error..... I am never shy to ask for help from my wonderful blogger friends...you can expect me to ask if I find something exciting in your space.

I am not an authority in cooking nor a qualified cook.

My biggest support, my pillar, my rock........Homey, my husband....without his encouragement and support this blog would never have been born.

Photography.....

I personally believe that I am a better cook than a photographer. I do try to increase my photography skills but I insist that I am a better cook than a photographer. I take pictures with my Nikon P&S.

Advertising and Revenue.
I monetized my site from 2011, but for a long time I really did not understand anything about monetizing and did not yield any income, and it took me another whole year to understand something about it and still learning. I also want you to know that each view of yours and some clicks might generate money for me although in a very tiny amount....and my excuse for that is I spend a huge amount of time on developing recipes, posting the way you would love, taking pictures...guide you in enjoying the food I have posted......

Lastly, why din't this recipe work for me?

Honestly I have no idea since I was not in the kitchen with you. It could be because of a lot of things like you swapped an ingredient, the ingredients were not brought to room temperature, it could be because of a lot of other things etc etc .....and I frankly I want every recipe of mine to work out for you and I will do all the help I can give from this side of the computer to make your recipe successful.
