Dalia Pulao Recipe - Whole Wheat Veg Cheat Meal

dalia pulao recipe

Dalia pulao recipe, dailia or broken wheat pulao is something most of us grew up on. It is healthy and easy to make plus it is with whole wheat and that makes it super healthy and if you are trying to lose weight then, its a filling cheat meal for lunch or dinner.

So if you want a healthy and low calorie but filling meal try this dalia pulao. This is nothing fancy I made it just the way I make vegetable pulao which I had posted in 2012, nothing fancy! just a simple every day meal.

I have used very minimal oil and some veggies I had in hand.

Do check out my video recipe:

Ingredients:
Dalia: 1 cupWater: 2 cupsOil: 1 1/2 tbspCarrot: 1 mediumHandful beans, choppedCapsicum: 1/2Tomato: 1Onion: 1Ginger: 1/2 inchgarlic: 4 clovesGreen chilies: 3-4------------Mustard seeds: 1/2 tspCurry leavesSalt as needed---------------Turmeric: 1/2 tspCoriander powder: 1 tspKashmiri chilli powder: 1 tspGaram masala: 1/2 tsp Coriander leaves as needed.
Method:
Wash and rinse 1 cup dalia and keep aside.
Heat oil in an iron pan and add in mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, green chilies, and onion. Allow the onions to get transparent.
Add in the chopped veggies and mix well for 2 mins, add salt.
While that is getting ready, rinse and wash the dalia and keep it on a strainer and keep the water to boil.
Once the veggies are sauted add in the masala powders and mix well for a minute, to remove the raw flavour.
Add in the strained dalia and mix for 2-3 minutes. Add in the boiling hot water and simmer the flame and cover and cook for 5 mins. After 5 mins open the lid and mix and then cover again and switch off the flame, open the lid after 5 mins and serve hot.

Pidiyum Kozhiyum Recipe - How To Make Kerala Style Kozhi Pidi - Kerala Recipes

Pidiyum kozhiyum or kottayam style pidi is a traditional knanaya cuisine ; these rice dumpling have a thick gravy like sauce, unlike the dry versions of Malabar kakka roti or kozhi pidi. Knanaya style pidi is served with varutharacha kozhi curry. Traditionally, pidi is associated with baby shower ie when the daughter-in-law is sent to her parents house for delivery, it is customary for the mother-in-law to make kozhi pidi and we knanaya people still follow these traditions. My main aim is to preserve this recipe; so that the future generations can enjoy this wholesome dish. Pidi is rice dumplings which is simmered in water along with shallots, garlic, curry leaves, and coriander seeds; but I have used coriander powder instead to make the whole process easy. Amma mentioned that if using coriander seeds then; the water used to mix the rice flour should be sieved and that using fresh roasted coriander powder saves time. I have made a video recipe and I hope this you help
