Masala dosa recipe, how to make masala dosa with easy step by step pictures.

Kerala Masala Dosa is one of the healthiest breakfast from South India. Though some love to have masala dosa for dinner or even lunch these days. Crispy flaky dosa is filled with mashed potatoes seasoned with spices and served with sambar or chutney.

Today, while going through my draft pictures I found this Masala Dosa pic which I had taken almost a year ago, I usually make them during weekends for dinner...and this pic was taken in the night...as I have mentioned earlier that I use point and shoot cam for all my pictures in the blog....it is difficult to take pictures during night...somehow, I got this click...which I guess is presentable :) and as I sat down today to write this post, I was surprised that I had completely forgotten about posting this easy, healthy, and filling meal, though I make it at least once a week. Its one of my favorite right from childhood.

Masala dosa is the most popular breakfast of Kerala, you got to any vegetarian or even non-vegetarian hotel, you can can find it in the menu.....though each one has their own distinct taste. I like masala dosa of Indian coffee house, which has branches all across the country...next time try an Indian Coffee House Masala Dosa.

To make masala dosa, all you need is some dosa batter and the filling is very easy to make. Potatoes are boiled and mashed and then seasoned with mustard seeds, curry leaves, whole red chilly, ginger, turmeric powder, and is filled into crispy dosa......so get your dosa batter ready!

Method:
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and put in a pressure cooker with water...let it cook for 3 to 4 whistles...allow it to cool down, peel off the skin...

Pidiyum kozhiyum or kottayam style pidi is a traditional knanaya cuisine ; these rice dumpling have a thick gravy like sauce, unlike the dry versions of Malabar kakka roti or kozhi pidi. Knanaya style pidi is served with varutharacha kozhi curry. Traditionally, pidi is associated with baby shower ie when the daughter-in-law is sent to her parents house for delivery, it is customary for the mother-in-law to make kozhi pidi and we knanaya people still follow these traditions. My main aim is to preserve this recipe; so that the future generations can enjoy this wholesome dish. Pidi is rice dumplings which is simmered in water along with shallots, garlic, curry leaves, and coriander seeds; but I have used coriander powder instead to make the whole process easy. Amma mentioned that if using coriander seeds then; the water used to mix the rice flour should be sieved and that using fresh roasted coriander powder saves time. I have made a video recipe and I hope this you help
